The last three sons of the dragon are products of a Chinese dragon crossed with a tiger, jiao, and fish.
What is a jiao you ask?
Well, think of it like a Chinese wyvern. Unlike a dragon, it sometimes only has 2 front legs, no horns, and lives in fresh water. Legend has it that with enough cultivation, a jiao may evolve (like a Pokémon) into a true dragon. But they are not a dragon. So, in anger and frustration over their station, they wreak havoc and cause floods. They are considered more as monsters (yaoguai) than celestial/mythical creatures.
The YA fantasy I’m still working on has a jiao in it. One day you’ll meet him. I really need to finish writing that book and start pitching it again.
